Today we are so excited to share the beautiful wedding of Natasha who married on 10th May 2019 at The Haven Hotel, Sandbanks. Her photographer was Atlas Photography.

Tell us about finding the dress

I booked an appointment at BOW with my Mum to initially work out what sort of style suited me, but ended up leaving with the first dress I had tried on! I’d tried on a few dresses in different styles/materials – I’d always dreamt of a princess-style dress – but knew Carenne was the dress for me as soon as I put it on! It felt so light, elegant and easy to move around in – the perfect dress for a beach wedding. I picked a pearl and Swarovski crystal belt to add to the waistline for a touch of sparkle which I then managed to align my jewellery and hair piece with.

How did you choose your venue

We have always loved being by the sea, especially as we got engaged by the beach in Cornwall, so we both wanted to get married by the sea. We viewed a couple of venues on the south coast but knew the Haven Hotel was the one for us as soon as we walked through the door and the location at Sandbanks was perfect! Plus, they offered an afternoon tea wedding breakfast which we just loved the idea of!

How did you choose your photographer

Choosing our photographer was a really easy process for us. Atlas Photography were recommended to us by my work friend and they’d photographed her wedding a few years before, and we’re so glad, as they captured our entire day perfectly! Right from the first time we met with them, Mark and Sara made us feel completely at ease!

What was your theme?

As we were getting married by the sea we decided on a relaxed coastal theme, featuring pastel blues, driftwood and nautical charts, plus a splash of pastel pink (demanded by me). We made most of the decorations ourselves to incorporate some personal touches, including handmade table names which were driftwood boats with old nautical chart sails – we didn’t want a copy-cat wedding! Our table plan was created from an old bicycle wheel to incorporate Richard’s hobby, as I’d managed to get pink incorporated into the decorations! We also hand-painted an old pallet to inform our guests of timings of things throughout the day.

What flowers did you choose?

Our flowers were provided by Simply Flower. We chose our favourite flowers which tied in with the theme: the bridal bouquet consisted of white hydrangeas, pale pink roses and eucalyptus leaves. This complemented the bridesmaid bouquets which were a simple white hydrangea head and their dusky pink dresses – they both looked beautiful. I also made the bridesmaids some hydrangea hair clips which the hairdresser loved! The flower girls had some faux roses and hydrangeas too! The Groom’s buttonhole was a pink rose, whilst the groomsmen and fathers’ buttonholes were white roses – they all went really well with their navy-blue suits and dusky rose ties and pocket squares.

Tell us about the cake

The cake was a 3-tier chocolate fudge cake made by my friend. We wanted to keep the cake decoration quite simple and elegant, as we’d tried to keep the wedding theme quite simple yet elegant too. Simply Flower provided some fresh roses and gypsophila to decorate the cake and tie it in with the flowers in the bouquets and on the tables.

How did you feel on the big day?

On the morning of the wedding we woke up to sunny blue skies which was a relief! For most of the morning I was relaxed as we were getting ready, but as it got closer to the ceremony the nerves started to kick in and I started to get quite emotional (but in a good way). Richard, however, spent the morning doing last-minute things so didn’t have time to get nervous until he was waiting for me at the end of the aisle. It didn’t help that I was running fashionably late, but as soon as we saw each other we couldn’t stop smiling and that lasted all day!!

What was your first dance?

Our first dance song was Tom Odell – Grow Old With Me. This was an easy decisions for us as we’ve always loved Tom Odell, especially this song. Every other song we listened to just didn’t compare. We had also seen him live and this confirmed our song choice when he played it! It’s a fun, upbeat song but the words also mean something to us.

Top tip(s) for other brides

Write a list of all outstanding things to be done by others (e.g. groom) on the morning whilst you are getting ready, even if you have discussed it several times with them!

Highlight of the day

The obvious choice – finally marrying the man of my dreams and walking along the beach on a beautiful sunny day together as husband and wife!
