We love sharing our beautiful real brides with you and today we are so excited to share the beautiful wedding of Mel and Jason. Their wedding was on June 9, 2018 at Beaulieu Domus. Their Photographer was Charly Woodhouse.

Tell us about finding the dress

As I live in Winchester and often walk past Brides of Winchester it was a natural place to start looking for the dress. I was also aware that they stocked Pronovias who I was keen on. I cannot remember who chose the dress but it was the second one I tried on and I just knew. I then became unexpectedly pregnant. I was a bit panicked as I would be 21 weeks pregnant on the day and had chosen a tight fitting dress. But the team at BOW were fantastic and luckily the dress could be let out. It hugged my bump perfectly and I couldn’t have chosen better.

How did you choose your venue

We wanted somewhere that none of our friends had been married at before and have always loved the New Forest. We visited a few places but the Domus was far and above the best for us. We loved the medieval stone building with the timber framed roof combined with the cloister and abbey ruins.

How did you choose your photographer

Lots of online research. We came across Charly’s work and it connected with us. She was so lovely on the day and we were really pleased with the results.

What was your wedding theme and how did you create it

We had a greenery theme as it fitted the venue and I’m an outdoors person. It also suited my bridesmaids as they were both redheads. I wanted something that complimented the venue and didn’t overwhelm it.

What flowers did you choose?

I went to Belle and Blossom in Beaulieu and really connected with Fin. We went through our theme and she was really able to see our vision. We wanted lots of natural foliage and shape with whites and soft pinks. The final result was stunning and better than I could have imagined. It was like she read our minds.

How did you feel on the morning? Walking down the aisle and during  the ceremony

It was a bit surreal waking up and getting ready for your wedding! I loved getting my hair and makeup done and generally being made a fuss over. And it was lovely having my family all together from Canada. As I walked down the aisle I was overcome with emotion. To be honest I didn’t have a chance as my groom and friends were all crying as well.

What was your first dance?

Obadiah Parker’s version of Let’s Stay Together. It was incredibly romantic with a hint of sexiness. We didn’t have anything choreographed, just danced, kissed and giggled.

Top tip(s) for other brides

Make someone in charge for the day who you really trust and give their number to the suppliers, that way you don’t have to worry about anything.

Highlight of the day

Our driver suggested going for a drive around the New Forest immediately after the ceremony. It was perfect. It was 20 minutes with just the two of us to take it all in.
