Today we are so excited to share the beautiful wedding of Lois whose wedding took place at Kingsettle Stud in Cholderton, on the 15th of June 2019. Her fabulous photographer was Emily Rose Photography.

Tell us about finding the dress

Finding a dress was always going to be difficult for me because I have bad body confidence issues, and the thought of being center of attention for the day in a big white dress was petrifying.  I had been to another shop and I didnt find what I was looking for. I was dead set on having a vintage style beaded gown and realised that upon trying on the whole collection I had my heart set on,  that I hated all of them on me and I maybe wanted something a bit less ‘blingy’ and maybe something softer.
So I booked to come to Brides of Winchester. The experience was a lot easier for me, the ladies are brilliant at helping get you in and out of the dresses ( being half naked in front of a stranger is hard for most people) but I felt completely at ease there. After trying on many dresses I kept going back to this one Pronovias dress. I tried it on a final time and decided to bite the bullet and decided this was my dress, as I felt the best version of myself when I was wearing it!

How did you choose your venue

Choosing the venue was easy for us, we both wanted something relaxed and that had some outdoor space. Kingsettle was just ideal as it enabled us to have our ceremony in a wildflower meadow but also had indoor space for us to use. Its a really beautiful venue and for anyone who loves the great outdoors, its just perfect.

How did you choose your photographer

We met our photographer through a friend as she photographed their wedding, and we loved her photos then so it was an easy choice for us.

What was your theme?

We decided to not really have a theme for the wedding but we wanted everything to be relaxed and fit in with being outdoors.

What flowers did you choose?

Most of the flowers were done by myself, I grew most of the flowers in my garden for table decorations and bridesmaid bouquets, but I had my bouquet made by a florist as I have always wanted a big wild bouquet and I wasn’t able to achieve it myself and I was so happy with it!

Tell us about the cake

My husband and I really weren’t fussed about cake, so we just ordered one from Marks and Spencer. The cake was lovely and it was super convenient for us, I had thought about making one myself but that would just add to the long list of things we already had to make for the day.

How did you feel on the big day?

Getting ready in the morning was probably the most nervous I have ever felt, I couldn’t eat I hadn’t slept and it was raining (when you have an outdoor wedding you check the weather every 5 minutes). Although I was nervous It was a lovely morning, surrounded by some of my amazing friends and family.

After a very early start of hair prepping and beautifying we left the cottage we were staying in at 1pm, I was stressing as it was chucking it down and the ceremony was outside in a meadow; we all got soaked! my hair went flat and all the dresses had soaked up the rain. Our best friend conducted the ceremony and this was so special for us and we are so happy we did it this way rather than in a church. As soon as we said ‘I do’ the sun shone through the clouds and the rest of the day was beautiful and dry. I can now look back at the day an laugh at how wet we all got.

What was your first dance?

Our first dance was ‘Lover if the Light’ By Mumford and Sons.  This song was on an album that we listened to in our car on repeat for a very long time and it made us happy listening to it. So we figured it would be the perfect song for us.

Top tip(s) for other brides

Try not to over stretch yourself as there is only so much you can do, and take help from others when they offer it.
Invest in a good DJ. we did not, and the music could have been a lot better. They would have probably turned up on time and played all the music we requested.
Don’t try to please everyone! its your day and you will never make everyone happy, so just so what makes you both happy.
Only invite people you really want there.
Forget tradition if it doesn’t suit you.

Highlight of the day

One of my highlights was when the lady looking after our dogs on the day collected bliss our little dog/baby to take her home as we had her there for photos. And all our guest shouted bye Bliss and waved her goodbye as she trotted off, she was the star of the show for the day.
