Today we are featuring the beautiful Lauren who wore Mimi by Sassi Holford.
What was your wedding date, venue and photographer?
I got married on the 13th August 2016 at South End Barns in Chichester and my amazing photographer was Andrew Adams.
Tell us about your dress…
I wore Mimi by Sassi Halford which has a cowl neckline, a sequin overlay bodice and a very full skirt which is brought together with a satin belt with diamante detail in the middle. It was a princess style dress which is what I always imagined in my head I would wear. I felt like the perfect bride and loved the way it complemented my figure. BOW was my first shop I visited and Mimi was the first dress i tied on after explaining to Laura the look I wanted and got it right first time and I fell in love. I did then try on a further two dresses in the shop but neither as lovely or came close. I then went to another shop just to make sure and when I mentioned the dress I tried on, she said they wouldn’t have something that would come close and I knew there and then she was the one.
Why did you choose your venue? Did you have a specific place in mind from an early stage?
I had always wanted to get married in a barn and wanted the day to be held all in the same place. I researched some in the local area and South End Barns popped up the pictures. It looked amazing, had great reviews and when I arrived I was even more taken aback by the scenic views. Also when I arrived one of the gardeners where hoovering the grass showing the great detail they go too. The reception was to be held in the barn which was breathtaking and still had the rustic theme I wanted without it looking too old. The grounds is what really sold the venue to me, with large fire pits that you could toast marshmallows on in the evening and outdoor games. I knew this was the place for me and cancelled all other appointments.
I don’t think I really had a theme as such, if anything it would be rustic/vintage. I didn’t feel the need to over decorate due to the amazing setting. My centrepieces, my mum dressed and were candelabras wrapped with Ivy. I wanted a pretty relaxed day with the people I loved being around me. I wanted the band to get everyone no the dance floor and great food and drink, to keep everyone going. Alice who helped plan the wedding, gave me ideas of where to put things and to not over do it.
What was your first dance?
I had two first dances; my one with the man of the day, my husband, which was Adele “Make You Feel My Love” which was the song which played in the background, by a busker, the moment we got engaged and was made extra special with my father in law singing it with our band. I also choose to have a dance with my dad, as he had done so much for me to able to have the wedding of my dreams. This was “I loved her first” and it had the perfect words.
What is your highlight of the day?
Its so hard to pin point as the whole day was perfect but some of my favourite moments where walking down the aisle and seeing Ash face and of course saying I do. Also we had the the most amazing band and their last song was Hey Jude. My father in law got up to sing and every guest was on the dance floor and formed a circle round me and Ash it was just the perfect ending. I also loved having everyone we both loved around us, celebrating me and Ash.
What is your top tip for other brides?
Chose a photographer who understands exactly what you want. Ash and I didn’t want posed pictures but knew we needed a few. Andrew understood that and as soon as we had had enough he stopped and took pictures of people laughing and enjoying the day and it also meant we weren’t away from our guest for a long period. I know everyone says it, but enjoy your day, take five minutes with your Partner, even if its just to say hello, as apart from your first dance you don’t get to spend much time together. One of my biggest tips is, a week before the wedding, do not stress if anything doesn’t go to plan. None of your guests know what you have planned, so it doesn’t matter, your day will still be perfect.
Thank you so much Lauren for sharing your beautiful wedding day with us.
