This week we are featuring Gemma whose wedding dress was Princia by Pronovias. Gemma’s wedding was on 2nd June 2017 at the beautiful Master Builder’s House Hotel in Bucklers Hard, Hampshire. Her photos are by TP Photography.
Tell us about the dress
Ah the dress! After doing some searching I knew that Pronovias was the designer for me. I absolutely adore all their dresses, so it was no surprise that the dress I ended up choosing was Princia by Pronovias. I loved everything about it, the lace detail, the train and the way it flared at the bottom. I felt amazing in it every time I wore it.
How did you choose your venue
Initially, we said that we didn’t want to get married in a hotel or in a barn style setting. So when we looked around the Master Builder’s it took us by surprise. We both loved the beautiful views the surround the hotel and the room inside is beautiful and we fell in love with it. Looking back now I don’t think there is anywhere else that could have suited us so well.
How did you choose your photographer
We went by a recommendation from a friend to help us choose our photographer. Greg was so great on the day and caught so many moments that you miss as you are so busy! He made sure that we got all the pictures that we wanted and captured some beautiful ones in the evening when the sun was setting.
How did you feel on the morning? Walking down the aisle and during the ceremony?
I didn’t manage to get much sleep the night before as my mind was thinking through everything – at one point I woke up my maid of honour as I remembered I didn’t tell the venue about the cake knife! So of course I was a little tired on the day. I felt like I went through every emotion during the morning, I’d got from feeling really nervous to being so, so excited!
I was really nervous walking down the aisle and I gripped onto my days hand so tight! It was the best feeling seeing Kieran at the end of the aisle and I couldn’t wait to marry him.
During the ceremony I don’t think I stopped smiling. It was just the best feeling ever.
What was your wedding theme and how did you create it
Kieran and I both grew up in and around the New Forest, so I knew that I wanted to do a ‘forest’ theme. We are so lucky to have many creative friends and family, so they were all able to help us create the theme. For my bridesmaids I chose a sage green dress and the men wore a dark green suit (both of which were from ASOS). I am so glad that we took the risk with the unusual suit colour as they suited the theme perfectly and the men looked great in them!
What flowers did you choose?
Kieran and I both knew nothing about flowers so when we went for our initial meeting we felt a little lost. However, Jo was just fantastic from start to finish. I told her what look I wanted and then let her decide on all the flowers to choose as I knew she would know what would work best. We went for white roses with green foliage for the flowers and this helped to bring alive our forest theme. The flowers for me were such a big part of the day and I was so overwhelmed with how wonderful they looked.
About the cake
We knew we wanted to make the cake a feature of the wedding and with our theme it was easy to choose the look that we wanted. We went for a cake that looked like bark from a tree. Hayley created the most wonderful cake and everyone was completely in awe of it! It was finished off with some mushrooms, lots of little fir cones and some flowers.
What was your first dance?
We chose James Arthur: Say you won’t let go.
Kieran had planned a surprise and had asked one of his good friends to perform the song for us, which I had no idea about. It was such a special moment.
Top tip(s) for other brides:
Don’t stress the small stuff! There are so many things that you think you must include and it is just not like that. All your guest care about is spending the day with you and having a great time.
Highlight of the day
So many to choose from… there are 2:
Seeing Kieran at the end of aisle – it is just the best feeling and I’ll never forget it.
The speeches!! My dad, Kieran and his best men did such an incredible job. I laughed, smiled and cried the whole time.
