This week we are featuring the beautiful Daisy who wore Harwood by Charlie Brear. Her amazing photographer was Minnie Young.

About the dress

As a long time admirer of Charlie Brear designs, I knew that if we chose to get married the elegant fabrics and clean lines of her dresses would be appealing to me, but I didn’t know if they’d suit me! I chose to visit BoW as it was convenient location to meet my mother, the shop was highly recommended by a friend and they stocked CB! I was greeted by the warmest smile and a glass of bucksfizz that I couldn’t help feeling at home! I had only been to one of other shop, but after trying on a couple of CB dresses at BoW I was very keen to return with my bridesmaid, India. On my second visit to BoW, this time with India, I tried on my top three dresses (my chosen dress, Harwood, being my third!) and immediately India cried and said ‘that’s it!’ to the final dress. I then floated around the shop for a good half an hour before deciding we should probably leave poor Hayley to meet some other brides! I felt elegant and comfortable, but most excitingly, couldn’t wait to wear it again!

Wedding date, venue and photographer

Saturday 8th April 2017. We were completely overwhelmed to have the hottest day of the year so far – perfect, considering we were hoping for an outdoor ceremony! We could not believe our luck!! We got married in Salisbury registry office with immediate family and a few friends, but had a humanist ceremony conducted by our wonderful old friend Julian Owen (the man that introduced us) at Barford Park in Downton, Wiltshire. We both grew up in Salisbury, Wiltshire and wanted a countryside location that was convenient for lots of our friends and family. We fell in the love with the old beams and beautiful brickwork of the barn at first sight, which could only be outdone by the stunning scenery surrounding it.

How did you choose your photographer

Minnie Young! My beautiful bridesmaid India’s beautiful younger sister! Minnie is photography graduate with a laid back, professional approach to taking natural and fun photographs. We have known Minnie for years so couldn’t think of anyone more perfect to spend the day with! She was the best!!!

Who did your hair and makeup

I did my own make-up and had my hair done at Phil Smith in Salisbury (initially I has planned to do my own hair, but I changed my mind and I’m so pleased as I loved visiting the salon in the morning with Sara and India!!)

What was your wedding theme and how did you create it?

We didn’t have a theme. We just chose things that we liked and that were special to us and our friends and family.

What flowers did you choose?

Lily of the Valley (my nanny had the same on her wedding day), hellebores, paper white daffodils, ferns, ranunculus lots of beautiful other green and white flowers and foliage chosen by my amazing aunty Helen (www.helenmainellen.com). She completely read our minds, without us having much written there, and created the most stunning displays and bouquets. I couldn’t bear the thought of throwing my bouquet and clutched it all evening (and much of the honeymoon – bit weird)!

How did you feel on the morning? Walking down the aisle and during  the ceremony

Nervous. Emotional. Filled with an overwhelming feeling of luck and happiness.

What was your first dance?

Breathless by Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds

Top tip(s) for other brides:
