We are so excited to share with you today the beautiful wedding of bride Denise who got married at her husband’s family home in Berkshire wearing a bespoke Chanticleer wedding dress. Her beautiful wedding photos are by Hester Marriot.
Tell us about the dress
I wore two dresses at my wedding. One was a 42 year old Nothingham Lace Dress which I inherited from my lovely mother in law. She wore it at her own wedding day! The dress of my choice and my second dress that I wore for my reception was purchased at BOW with the help of Keira who is one of my 5 bridesmaids. The BOW dress was a unique sample from a designer who sadly no longer designs so it was the only one of its kind which she ever did, it felt quite special. I loved both dresses equally and I am very grateful that I had the opportunity to wear two stunning gowns.
How did you choose your venue?
My husband”s parents immediately offered to host the wedding at their house in Berkshire. Our wedding was the fifth family wedding at their house and we felt very lucky to have been given the opportunity.
How did you choose your photographer?
Hester Marriot was recommended to us by a mutual friend Amanda Fox. I adore both women and I will treasure Hester’s photos forever.
Who did your hair and makeup and where did you find them?
Beccy from Arcana here in Winchester (Jewry Street ) did my hair. Again she too was a recommendation from another friend of mine who got married two months earlier. Beccy did a fantastic job with my hair, makeup and fitting the 200-year-old-family tiara securely on my head. Beccy also did the hair off all my 5 bridesmaids.
What flowers did you choose?
The flowers were a pleasant surprise, my photographer Hester recommended Elisabeth from Amamini Flowers and I had a beautiful bespoke bouquet with soft pink roses they flattered my vintage lace dress perfectly. The table decoration was entirely done by my talented mother in law. I choose the flowers she did the magic, she is wonderful, I am extremely lucky!
How did you feel on the morning? Walking down the aisle and during the ceremony?
I was surprisingly relaxed, felt incredibly happy and there was even a bit of a feeling of “fairytale” in the air. I think I found my prince!
What was your first dance?
Coming from Vienna it was of course a Viennese Waltz. I thought David just a few days before our wedding on the naked boards of our marquee and gosh was he good, he picked it up instantly, I could hardly believe it. Sorry David
What was the funniest moment of the day?
I would say it was when David and I cut our delicious wedding cake – a four tier English fruitcake with royal icing – with his uncles sword and then abandoned the sword putting it down next to the cake. The table with our wedding cake was on a table right next to the children’s table. Luckily nothing happened!
Highlight of the day
Exchanging our vowes.
